Electric Gate Repair & Emergency Callouts Questions

Every question we get asked about electric gate repair & emergency callouts, answered straight.

Questions

How It Works

  • Will resetting the gate fix the problem?

A reset clears the fault code but does not repair the underlying component. If the gate stops again after a reset, the motor, sensor, or control board needs a proper on-site check. Continuing to reset a faulty gate can cause further damage.

  • Can the gate be made safe before the parts arrive?

Yes. If the fault cannot be resolved same-day, the gate is physically secured and the manual release is left accessible. A return visit is booked with the correct part confirmed before the engineer attends again.

  • What happens if I force a stuck gate open or closed?

Forcing a gate against a motor or limit fault can strip gears, bend the track, or damage the control board, turning a straightforward repair into a more costly one. Isolating the power and using the manual release is the safer first step.

  • What compliance checks apply to electric gate repairs?

BS EN 12453 sets force limitation requirements for automatic gates, and BS EN 12635 covers operational testing after maintenance. Both checks are completed after every repair to confirm the system is safe before the engineer leaves.

  • How much does an emergency callout cost?

Cost depends on the fault found, the component needed, and whether the visit is same-day. A routine service check is priced differently from an emergency repair. The attending engineer confirms the scope and cost once the fault is diagnosed on site.
